About Outpost

A studio for the work small agencies won’t touch.

I’ve watched local businesses get sold the same thing over and over. A $1,500 Squarespace rebuild dressed up as a custom website. A “logo package” from Fiverr that took someone six hours. Offshore agencies charging $3,000 to $10,000 a month to post stock photos of pasta on a plumber’s Instagram. Every one of these businesses deserved better, and nobody in the middle was giving it to them.

I had the partnership. I had the agency name. When that fell apart I could have walked away, gone back to a steady corporate gig coordinating projects nobody outside the company would ever see, cashed the paycheck, stayed invisible. I went the other direction. The problem didn’t disappear when the partnership did — it got louder. Most of the websites online today were built by people who stopped caring about the work the day they signed the invoice. I’m building Outpost alone because I’m not willing to be one of them, and I don’t want my clients hiring one either.

The problem we see

Most local businesses are winning the wrong game.

Most local businesses in the East Valley are spending money in the wrong place. I watch contractors drop $1,500 to $5,000 a month on Google Ads while their Google Business Profile has six reviews and no photos. Home service companies paying a “social media manager” to post motivational quotes over stock sunsets. Restaurants with 3,000 Instagram followers and a contact form that’s been broken for months. The math never works because the foundation is broken — you’re paying to send traffic to a front door that doesn’t open.

The owners aren’t lazy. Most are working 60-hour weeks running the actual business. The options on the table are either an offshore retainer at $3,000 to $10,000 a month, a cut-rate Fiverr gig, or a local “freelancer” who disappears after month three. There’s no one in the middle who does the work in person, explains what they’re doing, and charges honestly. That gap is why Outpost exists.

Why Gilbert

Gilbert’s a town where the person building the business still answers the phone.

Gilbert works for what Outpost does because this is an owner-operator market. 298,470 people living in 72 square miles, median household income over $120,000, 30 percent of the population in the prime business-building years. The businesses we want to serve didn’t come in on a corporate franchise play — they got built by someone who mortgaged their house, worked weekends, and hired their first employee when they could afford it. That’s every client I want.

We’re Arizona-only for on-site shoots because driving to a client is the service, and the East Valley is where the drive math works. Phoenix proper is 40 minutes. Gilbert is where owner-operated businesses still answer their own phones.

What makes us different

The one thing other studios won’t say out loud.

Every other studio in this price range will ask you to send them photos of your business. We drive to you. I’m the one who shows up, shoots the work in 2 to 3 hours on your location, edits it, posts it, and answers when you text with a question. No account manager relay, no offshore team, no Slack channel you never check. Every Signal and Flagship client gets a monthly on-site shoot — real footage of your actual business, not stock photos and not recycled templates.

We can do this because we stay small on purpose. The cap is fifteen retainer clients, 3 website builds a year. When the roster fills, we stop — and we’ll tell you straight if it has, instead of stringing you along. Most agencies grow by taking every client who signs. This one doesn’t. That’s the whole promise.

Where this goes

The next five years.

Outpost is brand new. I don’t know yet what this will look like in 2031. The studios that claim they know — the ones with five-year roadmaps on their About pages — are either lying or haven’t shipped enough work to learn what they don’t know.

What I know is what stays constant. Outpost stays in Gilbert. Outpost drives to clients. Outpost takes on clients we’d put our name next to and turns down the ones we wouldn’t. The scale follows whatever lets those three things stay true. If the math works at 15 clients, we stop at 15. If it works at 30 with the right team, we grow to 30. Either version is fine. What isn’t fine is becoming a studio we wouldn’t hire.

A note from the founder

Why I started Outpost.

I grew up in the East Valley. I watched my parents and their friends run businesses the same way: a phone that rings, a calendar of jobs, word-of-mouth, more work than they could ever take. The internet didn’t change any of that for them. They were already doing it right.

But somewhere along the way, the world decided you also need an Instagram. And a TikTok. And a Google profile. And a website that loads in under 2 seconds. And reviews. And content. And a marketing funnel. And so the same business that was thriving in 1998 now feels like it’s drowning — not because the work changed, but because the surface area around the work multiplied.

The agencies that swarmed in to “fix” this mostly didn’t. They built systems that worked for them — six-month contracts, templated content, account managers in another time zone, monthly reports nobody reads. The owners I knew started canceling. Then they started doing it themselves at midnight after closing the shop. Then they started giving up.

I started Outpost because there’s a different way to do this. Done-for-you, but actually local. Flat monthly rates, no contracts, real Arizona phone numbers. The same brand of trust that a good plumber or a good electrician runs on, applied to social media and websites. Show up, do the work, hand over the deliverable, get paid, repeat.

If you’re the kind of owner who built something real and just wants someone to handle the online part so you can get back to the actual business — that’s who Outpost is for. If that sounds like you, the contact page is one click away, and I’m the one who answers.
